Offerings from Islam: Has It offered security, freedom & safety in society?

Islamic Inspiration & its contributions in humanity beggars description. Islam offers Invaluable pathways & inspire us as a radar in our lives.

Allah is Almighty. We are devoted to Him for everything in this worldly-life or life after death.

Religions have offerings to their followers. Its impact on humanity is inevitable. For Islam, it offers incredible freedom to obey it or not from it's side. But from followers' side, why or why not we will be  inspired by Islam? What Islam offers us can be a question from the non-Islamic followers.

We follow religion for our safety & security, family & social peace. Keeping this in minds, do we ever asked ourselves what  are the vast offerings that Islam provides us and helps to be inspired by it to follow it & take it as our life radar? Which religion do you follow? Or, do you follow any religion at all? If yes or no, then why or why not? If it is Islam, then what is its magnitude of offerings to human beings in this universe? In today’s topic we will explore about Islam’s offerings to humanity worldwide.

Islam means Peace. Islam is a whole life system. It offers a complete system that ensures security, freedom, and safety for individuals and society at large. Its teachings, grounded in the Qur'an and Sunnah (the practices and sayings of Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him), aim to create a harmonious and just environment where the rights and responsibilities of all are clearly defined. In doing so, Islam addresses not only the spiritual needs of its followers but also the physical, social, and moral security of the entire society.

Islam was not only come by Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Instead, it is a life system that was first introduced by Hazrat Aadam & his wife Hawa (alaihi-wa sallam). In Christianity or Bible, they are called Adam & Eve. However, Islam is a religion that Allah, the almighty creator, has introduced from the very beginning of the human appearance in this world.

Hazrat Adam (As) & Bibi Hawa (As) : our ancestor

Chronologically, Islam was developed by all the messengers (Nobi or Rasul). From century to century, Allah has given us his guidelines to keep us on the most righteous track with some holy books and that were got carried out by His nominated messengers who were also completely honest & holy persons.

Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was also a successor of that process and he was the last messenger from Allah. After him, no messenger or Rasul will come in this world till the day of judgement or resurrection day. Allah has closed the coming of holy verses from Him by the last holy book Qur’an or its carrier Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). But a matter of pity that many of us don’t believe it that and even mock at it. How disgrace upon us!!! Isn’t a shame for us that we disobey even our creator??!!

However, by examining Islamic principles and their application in various aspects of life, it becomes clear that Islam provides one of the most effective frameworks for achieving societal peace, security, and personal freedom. Let’s a brief discussion on those below:

The Concept of Justice in Islam

At the heart of Islamic teachings on societal security is the principle of justice ('adl). The Qur'an emphasizes justice as a universal value that should be upheld at all times, regardless of personal interests or relationships. Allah says:

“O you who believe! Be maintainers of justice, witnesses for Allah's sake, even though it be against your own selves or (your) parents or near relatives; whether the person is rich or poor, Allah is nearer to them both (than you are). So, do not follow (your) desires, lest you deviate. If you twist or turn (from justice), surely Allah is well aware of what you do” (Qur'an, 4:135).

Islam follows Allah's instructions

This emphasis on justice ensures that every member of society is treated fairly and equally under the law. Justice in Islam is not only a legal requirement but also a moral and spiritual obligation. By promoting a legal system based on fairness and equity, Islam helps prevent societal corruption, crime, and oppression. The Qur’an also commands the Muslims to stand firmly for justice even if it is against themselves, their families, or their communities. This promotes personal accountability and a collective consciousness aimed at achieving societal balance and peace.

The Protection of Life and Property

Islam places great emphasis on the protection of life, property, and dignity. These are seen as fundamental human rights that must be safeguarded in all circumstances. The sanctity of life is highlighted in the Qur'an where Allah states:

“Whoever kills a soul unless for a soul or for corruption (done) in the land – it is as if he had slain mankind entirely. And whoever saves one – it is as if he had saved mankind entirely” (Qur'an, 5:32).

This verse signifies the weight of responsibility attached to protecting human life. The Islamic legal system, known as Shariah, includes punishments for serious crimes such as murder, theft, and assault. These are designed not only as deterrents but also as means of upholding the rights of victims. By establishing a clear framework of accountability, Islamic law ensures that people feel secure in their lives and property, thus fostering a stable and safe society.

Only devotion to Allah can offers us wealth & prosperity

Moreover, the protection of property is emphasized through prohibitions against theft, fraud, and deception. Islamic teachings on economic justice include prohibitions on riba (usury), promoting fair trade practices, and ensuring the fair distribution of wealth. Zakat (charity) is also a pillar of Islam, ensuring that the wealthier members of society support the less fortunate, helping to reduce poverty and economic disparities, which are often root causes of crime and social instability.

Individual Freedom in Islam

Contrary to common misconceptions, Islam upholds individual freedoms within the framework of moral responsibility. Freedom in Islam is not seen as absolute but is guided by ethical principles that ensure one's actions do not infringe on the rights of others. Islam recognizes the importance of personal autonomy in matters of faith, thought, and expression, while also setting boundaries that maintain the moral fabric of society.

One of the most significant freedoms Islam offers is the freedom of religion. The Qur'an explicitly states: "There is no compulsion in religion" (Qur'an, 2:256). This verse affirms that individuals are free to choose their beliefs and that faith must come from personal conviction, not force. This concept promotes peaceful coexistence and respect for diversity within the Islamic legal framework.

Islam doesn't pressurize upon any individual

Moreover, Islam grants freedom of speech but with the responsibility to avoid harm, slander, or spreading false information. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said: "Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should speak good or keep silent" (Bukhari). Thus, while Islam encourages free expression, it also promotes speech that is constructive and respectful, fostering a culture of dialogue rather than conflict.

The contribution of the Family & Social Structures

Islam places a great deal of emphasis on the family as the cornerstone of society. The stability of the family unit is seen as essential for the moral and social development of individuals. Through marriage, Islam provides a framework for mutual support and respect between spouses, as well as clear guidelines for the upbringing of children.

On the contrary, free sex; or sexual relations outside of marriage, is generally considered impermissible (haram) in Islam. Engaging in premarital or extramarital sexual activities is viewed as detrimental to both individual and societal morality. The teachings encourage modesty and chastity, promoting a family structure that provides stability and nurtures the next generation.

Islam only supports marriage for strong family bonding

In Qur’an, Allah says: “And do not go anywhere near adultery. It is an outrage, and an evil path” – Qur’an (Surah: Al Israh: verse: 32

Islam recognizes sexual desire as a significant aspect of human nature and encourages fulfilling this desire within the lawful bounds of marriage. It also emphasizes the importance of consent, respect, and the emotional well-being of partners in a sexual relationship.

While interpretations and practices can vary widely among different cultures and communities, the core Islamic teaching maintains that sexual relations should occur responsibly, within marriage, and with a sense of accountability to oneself and others. This framework is aimed at promoting healthy relationships and safeguarding the dignity of individuals.

Islam always promotes  family bonding.

By promoting strong family bonding, and a sense of communal responsibility, Islam creates a supportive social network that contributes to the overall security and well-being of society. The rights of women, children, and the elderly are also given significant attention, ensuring that all members of society are protected and cared for.

Islamic Governance and Law

Islamic governance is based on the principles of Shura (consultation), justice, and the welfare of the people. While Islamic law provides specific guidelines for personal conduct, it also ensures that rulers are held accountable for their actions and decisions. Leadership in Islam is seen as a trust, with leaders required to act in the best interests of the people and to uphold justice at all times.

Islam provides equal rights to all.

Shariah, the moral and legal code of Islam, is designed to protect the five fundamental rights of individuals: religion, life, intellect, progeny, and property. Through the implementation of Shariah, society is structured in a way that ensures the protection of these rights for all members, creating a sense of security and trust within the community.

The contribution to world

Islam came after the world had full of injustice, insecurity, humiliation to women, female child murder, and so many unlawful activities. These furious activities were led by some wicked rulers from ere to era or even from century to century. Almighty Allah also destroyed those cruel, atheist, wicked rulers and their followers in many eras or century after century. They still were disobeying the just track that would be ideal for humanity worldwide. That’s why in Qur’an, Allah includes many verses, guidelines and instructions for us and showed us how to maintain human societies, humanities, world safety, security, human friendly politics, how to run business, economic systems, and even maintain the cross-border brotherhood without being hostile among nations.

So, the Quran is the best means of good luck for the world and whole humanity. It’s not only for Muslims.  In this regard Allah says:

"I have sent down the Book to you. It is a clear description of everything, and it is a guidance, mercy and good news..... " (Surah An-Nahl: 89)

We thank  Islam to make us the follower of the righteous path

In summery, we can conclude that:

Islam offers a holistic system that balances individual freedoms with social responsibilities, ensuring security and safety for all. Its emphasis on justice, the protection of life and property, and the maintenance of moral and social order creates an environment where people can live with dignity and peace. By following the principles outlined in the Qur'an and the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), Muslim societies can achieve a state of harmony and stability that benefits not only Muslims but all of humanity. Islam’s comprehensive approach to societal governance and personal conduct offers a model of justice, security, and freedom that has proven effective throughout history and continues to resonate in the modern world.
